  • Carmichael, 2009, The original descriptions lacks any type information. There are three species that could possible be the type Phylloxera caryaecaulis Fitch, Phylloxera caryaeglobui Walsh or Xerophylla caryaepilula. He does not use generic name 'Xerophylla' in combination with any of the three species. For caryaecaulis and caryaeglobi, he uses 'Phylloxera(?)' and 'Ph.(?)' respectively. For caryaepilula, he does not use it specifically with any generic name, however it is implied that it belongs to Xerophylla along with the other two species.
